When those radical Islamic cells in the refugee 10s of thousands start hacking and bombing in Europe the Brits, Germans, French and others will realize what has really come in to roost in the henhouse. I know in Germany a person could only own one firearm a couple 3 decades ago, not sure the law today.

Being a frequent visitor to the US for the last fifty years or so, I've often wondered to myself why those who have handguns don't carry handguns - just one would have changed history in the Texas diner massacre of a few years ago.

I know Oregonians who carry everywhere - do you? No, don't answer that, but you know where I'm coming from.

Just to point out that I've been in situations/locations where I carried 24/7 whilst in civilian clothes, and felt confident with it.

The way that the world is heading, you'd do well to think about what I'm saying.

Tac, why is it there are not more like you over there? Or maybe there are? I see the events and removal of arms and I always thought the UK was one of our very strong allies and saw in its people that they needed to be ready as well. But it surprises me and concerns me, because if the UK can be dictated by the minorities there is a possibility it could happen here when it comes to firearms. The UK and us are not the different in many ways you are like our best friends across the pond. But we may not be able to help each other if our leaders disarms us all. Our family has strong roots in Whales even a coat of arms there, so I do not take the concerns lightly. But if the UK citizens and the US citizens could become as one in a cause that might make all the difference.

See above. What you saw was a bunch of loons having Airsoft toy guns taken off them that actually look like the real thing - and they were walking around in public. That is a no-no here, and always has been.

The VCR - Violent Crimes Reduction Bill - came into law in October 2008 - with the view of somehow reducing violent crime [yeah right]. Part of that meant that carrying what looks exactly like a real firearm around in a public place was made unlawful, unless you are taking part in an authorised re-enactment of the kind that we are all familiar with, when Airsoft and de-acts as well as blank-firers by AUTHORISED re-enactors and/or AirSofter.

Oddly enough, since I am neither, I am prohibited in law from buying an AirSoft toy, although I have nineteen REAL live-firing guns. You KNOW that makes sense....

That minority here in yUK are the law-makers. The ordinary citizen of the yUK has no input whatsoever in the making of law, but each part of the yUK [except England] has its own legislature, and can take or leave the decisions of the main Westminster government. Northern Ireland did just that back in 1998, and tol d the Westminster government to go p*ss up a rope, and kept all their handguns, the only part of the yUK that ordinary handgun ownership of the kind that we see here is possible to an ordinary gun club member. Additionally, there are around 3000 CCW permits on issue, due to the unfortunate recent past history of the place.

Well, I live over five miles from the nearest town, and in a dead-end street where nobody comes unless they really need to. Fifteen miles tfrom here is the city of Peterborough with a good-sized moslem population - THAT's the main concern hereabouts.

What I'm doing is making certain sure that my ammunition stocks are never much less than my holding levels, and yes, we ARE limited on amounts of ammunition we can hold.

My limit for 3" 12g, for instance, is 26,000 cartridges...2 /34" 12g is 30,900.
