I would assume they log your name and the tag on the firearm so that they can make sure the correct firearm gets back to its owner. It amazes me how paranoid people can be Cabelas is on OUR SIDE THEY SELL GUNS AND AMMUNITION. They aren't slipping your name to Mayor BOOMberg or the local home invaders they are trying to make sure you and your property stay together when you run off to look at the pretty boxes of .22 ammo they just put out and forget what you came in the store for.

I decided to try a trade at Lacey one time.Bring the gun in and all goes as planned. Go up stairs to the gun room and don't make a deal.Kinda as I expected really.
THEN... I want to leave.
You need an escort. Is this a free service? I'm on!:D
Oh different story:rolleyes:
So I wait.And wait.
Hey Y'all gunna get me an escort? We didn't make a deal and I'm ready to go
Oh yeah we'll call someone again
Finally one of the gun room guys walked me out.
I can pretty much find a holster in a store without the gun (maybe since a glock or a 1911 holster is always there?) and Cabella's isn't the best price around so not a problem with me.
I would guess insurance is changing rules, not so much Cabella's themselves. They are deep in the gun culture and don't really want to alienate many of us.
Everything they sell besides their name brand can be had online, somewhere else. They understand this but insurance companies could care less
And I would guess Cabella's insurance costs could fund a couple small 3rd world countries

STOP telling anyone that you CC.
There is no need , there is no requirement, and you will only cause yourself grief.
Concealed is concealed and that means it is no one's business but yours.
That is part of the definition of concealed....................... ie; Out of sight, out of mind,

.

I agree one of the biggest problems with "some" canceled carry people are their need to let everyone know they are caring a gun and brag about what there are caring. Why I do not know but it makes the rest of us look bad, common sense dictates that if you have a Cancelled carry gun on you it is by definition to stay Cancelled. Remember the less you pay attention to your gun, the less other people will also. Unless you are a 20 something younger lady with a nice body most people will try not to look at your waist.

I like the new store it's close to my nefews place. I can get him to pick stuff up for me I order off the Internet. that way i do not have to pay shipping for the ammo i get. talked to one of the
Managers about canceled carry in their store and he said they do not care so long as no one sees it.

with all the Progressives outing gun owners, in news papers and on the net I'll be dammed if I'll make it easier for them
Cabela's is becoming a minion of the police state; none of their over priced merchandise is worth the cost of walking through their doors
Let them follow that old established east coast outfitter into the sunset and retail women's clothes, more market share for those who uphold the US Constitutiono_O

All true. Concealed means concealed.

Hadn't been in the new Cabela's yet so I stopped in to check it out.

Needed my holster & gun to match something up in the gun section

I see the man at the "check your guns here" podium

I have no problem with that at all, it's their business, they can make the rules as far as I'm concerned.

Trigger lock and a tag with my name on it and calls an escort to carry my gun, got no problem with that either

But then he opens a binder and writes my name in it along with others before me.

Creeped me out, why do they do this?

I got my first conceal carry in Oregon in 1971, would have felt better if he'd just asked to see that as I don't know who gets these lists or what they do with them.

Are Oregon conceal carry a matter of public record?

Are you sure it wasn't a "Check your guns here... if you're bringing one in to take back to the gun counter" situation? Fisherman's is the same way (but they don't record your information).

That said, effing A, concealed is concealed, especially in a big warehouse store like Cabela's.

That's basically what the signs in the Lacey and Tulalip locations said last I was in them. I just walk past them OC and shop away.

If my gun were canceled, I'd get it repaired before carrying it.

Again, I don't have a problem with their store policies, it's the recording of gun owners names that creeped me out.

When gun and owner are reunited, delete it, erase it or shred it.

All it would take in one disgruntled employee to hand the lists over to the Oregonian or the likes of them and you are in print as a gun owner.

One of the BEST Video's ever. That Lady can SPEAK ! And she has some serious intellect and uses it.
That is the kind of confrontation against anti gunners I support and would like to see happen every hour of every day. It is the kind of push back we have to have. We need a couple million of her or her clones..... Or people that are equally gifted at speaking with seriously intelligent confrontational ability.
That is the kind of no compromise direction we must have to take back 50 years of the lefts encroachment into our lives and country and damage to our Constitution.
The PUSH BACK TIME IS HERE.
No Actually it arrived in full glory in 2008. People were just too numb to react then.

Kind of fun,y but unrelated. I bought a used Glock at the Tulalip store and it didn't have a box so after the escort the guy just hands me the gun to walk back to my car. So I'm just like ok? And stuff it in my pocket right in front of some customers coming in. The look on their face was funny. They must have been from Canada.

My buddy open carries in the store all the time without incident.

Agreed!!!

Been too busy to sit down and fill out our ballots.

So this weekend my Wife are going to NRA & Oregon Firearm Federation sites for 2nd Amend. scores

We're Conserative and our Libtard mail lady knows it so we'll hand deliver to the ballot box, can't trust her either... :s0111:

Nick, I follow what you are saying but my life is more complicated than that, let me to the story how this all came about...

Crimson Trace just came out with the green laser for the M&P Shield, daylight viewable and 300% more visible to our eyes.

My eyes have been looking down iron sights for decades and they need all the help they can get.

Off the shelf holsters won't fit due to the added Red laser, so I had a leather holster custom made at Ted Blockers, fits like a glove, smooth & quiet.

Herein lies the problem, CT Green is larger than the Red, how much & will it still work with my glove fit leather holster, I dunno, never seen the CT Green in real life so never had a chance to compare side to side at a counter.

That's why I needed advice from the guy at the "check your guns" podium as I knew it wouldn't cool to draw & clear a weapon at the counter risking a ND and having an Elk head fall on someone.

Just don't record the names of your gun owning customers!

Just calm the heck down and keep it in your pants. If you want to check for fit, grab a holster off the rack and ask the counter to see if your pistol at home will fit it.

The title of this thread is deceptive. Cabelas is not recording the names of CHL holders as they have no idea who in their store is carrying. It is also not what the OP said happened, Cabelas is recording the names of people who they check into their store with a firearm being carried open.

Slightly different.
