Back in the day I used to carry a 30-30 Winchester lever action in my truck to school. Go hunting after work then go home and do home work. Miss those days they were way simplero_O

Every truck in parking lot when I went to High School had a rack in the window populated by a Winchester 94. Same was true for just about every pickup you saw on the road as well. Funny thing that we never had a massacre or anybody worried about getting their rifle stolen. Times don't always change for the best.

I miss the fact that so many of us in high school could keep a gun in our car (if we had one) for some fun after school. No one thought anything of it. If some kid did that now and it was found out? SWAT team would be called in. One day Principal came in with his 30-30 in case. Was loaning it to another student for a deer hunt. Amazing none of us had ever heard of someone coming to school and shooting anyone. I wonder how we survived with no "gun free zones" and all. Yet the answer is always the same. We need more laws.

I believe the gun the off duty deputy retrieved from his car in the Vaughan Foods beheading attack was an AR.

That is indeed correct. It was the company's COO Mark Vaughan who was working in the office at the time, who went and retrieved his rifle. The terrorist, Alton Nolen, was actually in the process of attempting to behead a second woman, when Vaughan shot him once in his arm, and a second time in his abdomen. While hospitalized for serious cuts to her neck, the second woman managed to survive the attack.

There is really no telling how many Nolen could have potentially killed that day, if it had not been for Vaughan, as most of the workers at the plant are women.

The thing about that incident that really made me angry is that Obama's FBI declared it to be a case of "workplace violence", and not terrorism, which is pure, absolute @^#%$. No Federal charges of any kind were ever filed against Nolen.

Here is a photo of the Jihadist Nolen:

And of the heroic Mark Vaughan who stopped him:

To make matters worse, after the case was in the courts for over a year, a judge finally ruled that Nolen was to severely mentally ill to stand trial.

The killer now lives confined to an Oklahoma State Mental Hospital.

Here is an extremely chilling account of this terror attack by the woman who survived:

Only until some lame a$$ judge decides he is "cured" and lets him out to do it all again.

It will be a few years before I trust the MCX - I've read about a few failures of the springs that involved plastic parts breaking
It'll be a cold day in hades before I trust any advice from "fancy nuts" Richard Hewitt. I knew him personally and wish I didn't know him personally.

Unless you think he faked the damage to the MCX for some reason I think the picture speaks for itself. I get plenty of information from people I wouldn't exactly be friends with, and sorry to hear of your experience.

Oh, I didn't watch the video because I can't, and won't.

...seems like for self defense a CCW is more practical and useful since you dont have to retrieve it....

And there's a LOT to be said for the element of surprise! If you're carrying a long gun and someone is thinking about attacking you they can plan for that. If you appear unarmed and their attack suddenly ends up in their staring down the muzzle of your handgun, it really puts a twist in their OODA loop...

On the other hand, would you rather be surprising somebody like that, or would you rather he just left you alone because he sees you armed? I'm pretty doubtful that most clowns would go after somebody they see is armed. Doesn't sound like a good way to stay healthy.

this must be where that Oregunian window sticker comes to play?

The guy wasnt a terrorist . He was a nut job disgruntled employee who got fired and went out to his car and got a knife , came back in and killed his supervisor and cut her head off and was in the process of doing the same thing before the owner/manager came out and shot him. Grotesque scene to be sure with warehouse employees throwing chairs etc at the guy to get him to stop before Vaughan came out. Only reason it has been called a terrorist attack in some media outlets was because the guy was an ( insane ) black Muslim convert who was fired for basically being a pain in the @ss.

It was formerly known as Vaughan foods. Its part of Resers now. I interviewed for the plant engineer position about a year after the incident and got the full lowdown from the plant manager ( Vaughan had left ). After that cheery description and a little research on the beautiful town of Moore OK I decided there was no way in hell I was taking that job.

Lol a few years ago the real smart people that run the company where I work out up the no guns sign at the front door of are distribution center lol some of the employees complained bout it we told them they would be better off putting up a sign that says 1 out 5 employees is Armed that would detour a outside attack but not a employee or ex employee one but if you are fired you are escort out and can't get back in they took the sign down after a while
