Another city to challenge preemption, this time in Montana

The Missoula City Council last night received a proposed ordinance that will likely put the western Montana council in the crosshairs of the Montana Shooting Sports Association (MSSA) because it allegedly won't square with state statute, according to KECI News…

Politicians with their "word violence"... All this gun control non-sense is a distraction from the real causes of violence. Education, poverty, drugs and mental health is where it's at.

Someone better check the bank accounts of these Bloomberg leeches and see how much they picked up recently from that POS.

Cities can't preempt state law without consequences. Cities generally have no ability to fund themselves. Their revenue for most things comes from state tax revenue that is distributed by the legislature. The should tread lightly, or they could be footing the bill for a great many more things when the legislature, the governor's office and the attorney general decide to act.

And really, so this just means that anyone who wants to sell a gun will just drive out of the city limits (if they care) and sell the gun there; bypassing any need to "comply" with a city ordinance.

If this is happening in a place like Montana, what hope is there to find anywhere that will remain untouched??

Every western state has pockets of decay where relatively wealthy outsiders move in from progressive areas. In Montana it's the college towns of Bozeman and Missoula. They are the Portland and Eugene of the Big Sky State. It's tough for natives to find jobs to begin with, then a-holes move in from outside and jack up land prices so the locals leave because they can no longer afford to live there.

Sound familiar, Washington and Oregon?

Missoula has been on this liberal path for many years and I hope to hell the good people in the area WAKE up. I told my daughters that there was no way I would let them attend U of M in Missoula due to its overly left wing leanings. This is just another attempt to control people and business. The city council is drunk on power and will push all it can. I say to the good people of Missoula, and there are some left, wake up before these idiots totally ruin what is left of a once fine city. It never ceases to amaze me that when the liberals or anti gun nuts are in trouble, they call and pray that some cop with a gun will arrive in time to save their rears. Just my thoughts, hey just like not all gun owners are nuts, not all who live in Montana are this stupid. I wonder how many of the members on the council are actually born and raised in Montana ?

People here in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington) have this romantic view of Montana as being the conservative and freedom loving bastion of the country. However, we forget that cities like Missoula are actually more liberal than many cities here in Washington and Oregon. For example, Montana's first lesbian democrat representative, Diane Sands, hails from Missoula. She also happens to be one of the most anti-gun Montanan politicians and she demands that we should do psychological exams as a requirement for gun ownership. Any coincidence here?

Also, most of these liberal Montanan cities, like Missoula, are heavily populated with Californians and not the good, freedom-loving types who left for the right reasons. Whereas the more right-wing Orange County type Californians fled to Boise and Coeur d'Alene, the more typical radical leftist/socialist minded Californians have moved to towns like Missoula and of course to Seattle, Portland, Eugene, etc.

Now, the more native Montanan democrats are for most part pretty pro-gun and more libertarian minded, but with the massive immigration of Californians and East Coast people to their new liberal, progressive mountain paradise, it is time to fix Montana and make it more like the crapholes they came form.

Is it any news that leftist West Coast and East Coast liberals are just cancer? I'm seeing what they are doing in King County in Washington. They spend more money fighting gun owners at the expense of taxpayers than they pay trying to reduce gang violence or address poverty.

Missoula, actually, is one of the most liberal, leftist and deranged towns in the entire Mountain West. It has become much more Left Coast radicalized over the years with the large migration of Californian and East Coast liberals.

The one thing Montana has going for it is that it is still a pretty rural and rugged state. Montanans are pretty freedom loving as a whole and most Montanans do not like the town of MIssoula, which is a separate entity to the rest of the state.

One advantage of Montana is that its major city center is Billings which does not attract scores of left coast and East Coast liberal radicals. It's still a blue collar, working class type of city and mostly conservative and the liberals are not the radical types. Hopefully, Billings can become more economically successful and become a more conservative city center for the state. The city is growing and is the only city in Montana with an improving economy. Missoula, has no real economy, besides its college, retirees and its unshowered hippies who sell hemp necklaces on street corners.

But, so people know, even Eugene is more right-wing than Missoula. Missoula always has been a very liberal hippie enclave that is now becoming much more like a typical radical leftist city you would have in the Northwest or East Coast. Bozeman (aka Boze Angeles) , another very Californized type of mountain town also has the radical leftist elements, but not to the degree of Missoula.

The bigger cities in Montana have fallen too.

It's the Saul Alinsky model. Ayn Rand warned of this in the 1950's (THE 1950's for HELL's SAKE!)... wake up America. Take the time to read about this, do your own critical thinking and reasoning, and come to your own conclusion -- but for God's sake, please take the time to educate yourselves and those you care about.
