This model was custom designed for the M4A1 as sold to the US Special Forces. Unit comes with a flattop rail adapter. Additions to the original that are now standard with all reflex include dust cover and polarizing filter. That's where the serial number comes in handy when considering buying a used Trijicon product.
The Tritium element has a half life of 12.5 years and knowing when it was made generally helps determine the price and when it needs to be sent back for the element to be recharged.
Plus, it confirms that it's a real Trijicon product, not a Chinese clone.
