So, today, for the second time in my life, I loaded the family up and we went to the forest for a Christmas tree. Ya know, it was actually worth it. 
From Salem, its about a one hour trip to Detroit (with traffic) and then about another half hour north on 46 toward Breitenbush where we found a forest road and our tree.
If you haven't yet got your tree and are tired of the same ol' tree, try it. They don't look the same, they are a little deformed but in the end worth the trip. And, if you are trying to save a little coin, its only five dollars for the permit. that price gets you the permit, zip tie and map of the area.
