Not being able to carry into the venue means you aren't able to carry on the way back to your car, which is when you're most likely to be assaulted. Personally I wish venues would offer secure storage options for people to lock up their firearms on the way in and reclaim them before they go home, but no venue will take on that kind of liability, so it's a moot point.
I guess I don't worry about those moments as much you do.

You are allowed to carry if you have a chl while at the state fair it's clearly stated on their website. It's no one's responsibility to put up a sign for you. Do your own research before going places you think might be restricted.

Speaking of the walk back after the event, my wife and I attended a concert at T-mobile Park this week. Trying to get an uber or Lyft at 11pm was a isht show so we walked north on 1st Street with a ever dwindling group of fellow concert goers the 1.2 miles to our hotel. We passed several crazy people at Pioneer Square, but nobody gave us any trouble.

It would have been nice to have a non-metalic punch knife on me, but I did not want to get caught trying to sneak one in not knowing what the penalty would be.

I was there with the family. I was surprised at the security at the entrance, searching bags, metal detectors, but it didn't really bother me. I gave the guy my phone and Leatherman, and he handed it right back to me without comment once I walked through the metal detector. I wasn't carrying.

It is interesting to see that CHL carry was permitted. I wondered about that after carefully reading the wording of the sign. To be honest, from a very practical perspective I didn't feel unsafe at all. The heavy state police presence combined with the entrance security would sure seem to make it unlikely that there would be muggings or gang warfare. That's just my practical thoughts about it. The kids had a good time. My youngest spent hours and hours riding the rides.

From an ideological perspective, I can understand where some would have a problem with it, but on the practical side I didn't see it as a big deal.

I can't imagine why anybody would go to the state fair anyway. Crowds, heat, overpriced food and rides. Not for me. It's not like this is some small country town with nothing better to do.

doen in AZ they used to have "pitbull day" at the fair

Not a joke, they really did
Ouch! Looks like somebody got censored. Thanks for quoting, tho. As one who has felt the heavy hand of censorship on this site, I can't help but chuckle when the censor is defeated.

When we start screaming Treason it gives the pro-gun lobby, and just about everyone else for that matter, ammunition to dismiss our claims
Did you mean the anti-gun lobby?

Clearly lots of people do though, so there must be something to it. Just because one doesn't like or understand something, doesn't mean it's not legitimate for those who do. Maybe they have kids who enjoy the rides, and maybe they enjoy walking around and seeing the sights.

🤷‍♂️ I went to the fair the first weekend. The scanner went off when I walked thru, I already had my chl in hand, I showed it to the attendant, she sighed and told me to have a nice day. We went through twice and both times they just waved me thru after I showed my license.

We have that at Clark county fair but I've always carried there. It's not like they use metal detectors. They'll unzip my wife's purse and just peek in there, but I walk right through with my pistol on me every time despite it being "prohibited".
