Ok, End of the World has just arrived and you HAVE to leave your home...

You have a "go bag" and you only have time to grab 5 things to help you survive and only 1 of them can be a firearm (ammo doesn't count as an item). What do you grab??

This is what I was thinking...

1. My FNAR for SD and hunting
2. Magnesium fire starter
3. Ka-Bar knife
4. Small tent
5. Rope

What's the mode of transportation? Am I on foot or in my vehicle?

If im in my vehicle that choice is easy. I'm grabbing the 4 rubbermaid totes marked 1-4 and my dragbag Its only one item but has 2 weapons in it.

Tote 1 is Food
Tote 2 is First Aid/Sanitation
Tote 3 Is Shelter
Tote 4 is Trade goods and more food

What about water?

Based on what I'm seeing how's this sound:

1 Stag 2TL
MSR ceramic water filter
Gerber Multi Tool
Bag of Rice
Saffron, for trading (lighter than gold and costs the same) :s0114: Inside Joke

I love this sort of thinking, I have a small hydration pack that I have this stuff packed already, minus the firearm of course. Normally I carry my .45 when I go out into the woods to play but in the end I would always grab my shorty 12 Gauge

1) Mossberg Mariner 12 Gauge w/Knoxx Spec-Opps Folding Stock
2) Gransfors Forest Axe
3) Katadyn Pocket Micro-Filter
4) Leatherman Multi-Tool; I have the Wave, but look at the new MUT
5) Fire Kit (Lighter, Flint Rod & Pine Shavings) if I can't have the whole kit then I would take my 1/2" x 4" Flint rod.

I keep this stuff already packed, along with some para-cord & Canteen w/cup. But those are my top 5!

<broken link removed>

1. a full tank of gas.
2. half a pack of cigarettes
3. sunglasses.
4.
5.

Hit it!

Must love Blues Brothers references, but I was thinking four fried chickens and a coke (that's five items, right?)...

In the interest of water, food, shelter...

1. Nalgene bottle.
2. Water filter.
3. Rem 870, slugs, buck, and birdshot (probably around 150 total rounds)
4. Fixed, heavy blade knife.
5. Fire starter (either blast match or magnesium and flint)

Just missing the cut are my hammock, a tarp, my pack axe, my 1911, and a few miscellaneous items that are in my pack already (para-cord, skinning knife, pen and paper)...

MY List
1. Wife
2. Dog
3. Knife
4. Compass
5. Shoes (If there is time)

Wife's List
1. Shoes
2. Eyeshadow
3. Visine
4. Book
5. Shoes

Dog's List
1. Nylabone
2. Tug Rope
3. Collapsible Water Dish
4. SqueekyToy
5. Drool

Between Mother Nature and Murphy, sometimes you don't have a choice.

Oh sure, burst my bubble. :(

List A (if it is a "civilized" TEOTWAWKI:
1) Mastercard
2) Visa Card
3) Cash (small bills for tips)
4) Glock 17
5) Sunglasses

List B (if it is an "uncivilized" TEOTWAWKI:
1) Glock 17
2) Dog
3) My other Glock 17
4) MREs
5) Water bottle/filter
(My wife and daughter will each carry 5 heavier things.)
