Open carry is very prevalent outside the few large cities in TX.

This right here! My wife even has more of a reason with a violent ex that threatened to kill her repeatedly. She has her permit, trains with me, then never carries.

I asked her why and it was her carry options so we are working to make her more comfortable.

But seriously even if it was uncomfortable and awkward with her past I'd be carrying around everything I had even if I had to limp around with a shotgun down my pants.

Right there with yer, same issue with my wife. She's competent and a darn good shot too... Just hasn't found what works for her. And she waffles on what she would want to carry too... So I've got a bit more work to do.
