Are hand-crank Gatling guns an NFA item?
I thought not, thank you for the clarification. Can we get it moved please. No, they are not. (I put it in this section because it was the closest one I could think of, though that probably wasn't the thing to do.) But they are regulated the same as a standard long gun, not a machine-gun. ATF references this long-standing rule in this ruling.

1) its not designed to be fired from the shoulderBut the $20,000 question is, is it a "Semi-automatic Assault Rifle"?
Problem with that? It turns it into a machine gun due to "automatic firing" if ya have on/off button for the electric motorHook an electric motor to that bad-boy and let's get to rockin'!
1) its not designed to be fired from the shoulder
2) its also not designed to be held in one hand
3) it does not "fire automatically" ( you gotta crank it manually to fire)
So while it is autoloading... it still is not quite semiautomatic because the crank also cocks the bolt assemblies while firing and ejecting.. could be thought of as "triple action" crank (fire, eject, cock, repeat)

No point without a belt.Hook an electric motor to that bad-boy and let's get to rockin'!
Stomper is determined to have his Mini Ma Duce.Does a plug-in plug count?
Build a vertical "hopper" that funnels ammo down to the gun; vertical fed... then emplace a few at certain pointa around a compound..... might be a decent close range defense tool..... after all, its "only 9mm" right
Wait, serious question- if you did, would it change the designation? This could be an interesting project!Hook an electric motor to that bad-boy and let's get to rockin'!
It would be automatically be classed as a Machine Gun / NFA item if you add any electric motor or solenoid device to it.Yeah, what if its a plug in electric motor with no on/off, but its plugged into a power strip that does have a switch... technically it has no activation button or trigger....
