Men crash SUV into Indy-area gun shop, steal guns
9:11 AM, Dec. 7, 2011 | Comments

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Thieves crashed a stolen SUV through a Greenwood gun shop this morning and made off with two firearms, including an assault-style rifle.

The smash-and-grab happened at 2:45 a.m. at Elmore’s Firearms, 520 N. State Road 135, said Russ Elmore, the shop owner.
He said the heist took 38 seconds. Two men hopped out of the SUV that had driven through the front door, broke two display cases and took an AR-15, a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun and silencer.

Elmore said the men tried to steal other guns displayed on the wall but couldn’t because they were fastened with cable.

Elmore said the burglary was captured on security cameras. He said police told him the SUV was reported stolen from Beech Grove two days ago.

The Greenwood police could not be reached immediately.

Elmore said damage to the front of his shop was an estimated $45,000.

Elmore has been at that location for nine years. He said 18 years ago when the shop was about mile away, thieves chopped through a wall and stole 77 guns.

Thieves were smarter 18 years ago? Better prepared? More willing to put a bit of effort into their heists? Probably took a bit more work to chop through a wall.

That's the problem with kids now a days! They're just too damned lazy to invest time into something. Anything worth doing is worth doing right!

Is that a challenge? LOL, I hope that no one takes it.
