Ok NW Firearms folk who live in Oregon.... this is my first political post, maybe my last. I have to tell you that I'm scared to death that the Oregon Legislature will cripple our ability to acquire, own and use firearms.

Now I see a lot of reactionary posts about how bad this legislation is.... and you're right! BUT guys and gals, many of those comments won't sway the opposition. We need to quit complaining and arguing and unite and send well though-out, fact based reasons why their proposals are wrong. And you need to write the legislature...now.

Further, I'm choosing to use the Oregon Firearms Federation as my primary voice in Salem. I'm also a NRA member, however I think OFF is more aggressive and they are local (Canby) vs DC based. Yesterday I joined that organization and sent some funds to them to help with their cost to be a lobbyist presence in Salem.

So, if you love firearms and support the Second Amendment rights we were born with, AND if you want your children and grandchildren to enjoy those freedoms, here's what I suggest you consider:

1. Write your State Senator and State Representative. Even the liberal ones need to hear from we common folk. Be reasonable and give facts, tell them that you vote.

If you want an easy way to do this, OFF has a web page for comments.

Gmail

2. Open your wallet. Donate $100 to the Oregon Firearms Federation. If you have more to give, give more.

Last word.... PLEASE don't be passive. If you're like me, the natural tendency is to say "well, someone will represent me and it will work out". Maybe that will happen, but in 2019, I don't think so. We have a gun hating Governor that wants to look good to her socialist friends: a Democrat controlled House and Democrat controlled Senate. Most Democrats don't like guns but some are more level headed than others. We need common sense to prevail. If we don't speak up now, we'll have no one to blame but ourselves. So write and talk to others about this issue!

There are hard times ahead. Act now before it's too late.

I'm not afraid to sign my name....

PS... buy more ammo, buy that firearm you've been thinking about.

Dave, I am not a tin foil hat guy but I think you may went to delete your phone number.

Thank you for your excellent post!

Already have initiated my letter writing campaign... I've split my Q1 donation allotment between OFF and SAF...

Folks, take the time to not only take action now, but we have to continuously and loudly beat the drum...

Agree, excellent post and we need to get our act together.

From he liberal left, proponents of these measures, initiatives and legislation it's all playbook driven, feel-good talking points. It's a sophisticated marketing/messaging campaign developed and funded by Bloomberg, Nick Hanauer, and a few others.

This was 'leaked' back in 2013. "Preventing Gun Violence Through Effective Messaging" (download for yourself by clicking the title). This is what we're up against.

In my view, we need a data driven response, since the data is on our side. And virtually none of the newest restrictions have actual data or facts to support what they want to impose. Particularly gun bans and magazine size restrictions. These do nothing to prevent serious crime, mass shootings and certainly not anything to prevent suicides, which are over 60% of so called 'gun violence deaths' nationally - nearly 80% in WA.

We especially need for hunters, cowboy action shooters and other firearms enthusiasts to get on board and see this for what it is, a step by step method to ban private firearms, a little at a time, then a little more.

What is happening in Oregon is simple enough to figure out:

You are being betrayed, at every turn, by liberal gun owners.

They're literally like chickens repeatedly voting for the KFC empire to run what's left of their miserable lives, hoping they are the last into the fryer.

I love seeing more shooters who get worried about this. The reason WA and OR are in this mess is way too many who own and shoot could care less. Want to stop it? Great. There is only one way, vote, and vote well. Politicians only fear one thing, losing. Mail and calls are nice, votes are all that matters. Unless gun owners stop voting in the people who hose them nothing will every go the other way. Gun owners by large numbers support the people who give them these laws.

Its allot simpler then most understand, and allot more harmful then most understand.
Everyone thinks this is an attack on the Second Amendment and while that is true, the reality is
they are violating our civil rights, its that simple....

I agree with most of what you said, but OFF and giving them money, is not near enough.
Its never stopped more passive bills, basically because OFF is ill equipped to handle this level.
They always have been, but now its much worse. Putting money in a Lobby to save rights when they have failed
the last ten years is not good spending of money in my opinion. And I have seen how OFF waste the money they get.
May be for others, but not this guy... but yep we need to fight and keep active. But throwing money at it wont fix it, unless
we are talking millions and that wont happen. OFF wont put up billboards or run ads like other states do, so what cash is needed to
testify in Salem?

Time for Oregon gun owners to sacrifice a bit and be there to testify, but how do we get that organized and get the numbers we need? We seem to be so disjointed and no leadership. This we keep getting our collective azzes kicked...

That is a damn good question no one ever seems to be able to come up with a good way to fix. A LOT of gun owners in OR voted in Kate a couple times now. I know the Mods want us to play nice but to me this is "how do you fix stupid". I am at my wits end with this. Gun owners who openly admit they wanted Hilary to win, then blame everyone else when new gun laws march in???????
Gun owners just keep loading up and shooting their own foot every 2 years. Many of them then beat their chest and are proud they did this?????????
Unless this changes OR and WA will soon catch up to CA. Sad but it is just what is.

NWFA does have the ability to change like no other group could, but its not there goal. Why? I have nio idea.
Maybe they didnt realize the influence and power this group could yield and are not equipped?
No idea. So that's up to them, to be spectators in this stuff, but even this site could fall if all rights are lost.
I agree, even if we are standing in the halls we have to be there, and show numbers.

This is a matter of losing a civil right, if one wont fight for that? What will you fight for then?

Amen Brother, that right there should be forming us into one formidable force to be reckoned with...

We're about to have not only our Civil Rights taken away, but this body of legislators is attempting to remove God given rights... Exactly how does that work????
