Has time come for the Supreme Court to take up carry?

Speculation has been building that tomorrow, the Supreme Court will announce whether it will consider whether the right to bear arms for personal protection extends outside the home by taking a New Jersey case that challenges the Garden State’s ultra-restrictive “needs based” permit requirement.

But the SC refused to take this issue up today. They have denied cert. in Drake v. Jerejian.

SCOTUS declines to take Drake CCW challenge to New Jersey law

The U.S. Supreme Court this morning denied certiorari in a case challenging the arbitrary nature of New Jersey’s concealed carry permitting scheme, leaving gun rights activists fuming and convinced the high court is afraid to address the issue of carrying firearms outside the home for personal protection.

Interesting observation, M.D. and one that has quite a bit of concurrence. BTW: Welcome aboard!

NJ anti-gunners make hay of Monday’s SCOTUS denial on Drake case

In the closing moments of yesterday’s New Jersey Senate Law and Public Safety committee hearing on new gun control legislation, State Sen. Donald Norcross, a Democrat, made hay of Monday morning’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to not review a challenge of that state’s highly-restrictive concealed carry law to justify further restrictions on magazine capacity.

SCOTUS should get it over and done with, before the elections.
