Tight 10/22 barrel can't get it out

I put a Federson bull barrel in a 1022. Went in tight, but it went in. Now I cannot get it out. It is stuck real good.

Heat. Alloy expands faster than steel. A few ideas. Freeze the action overnight. Then, a hair dryer or very judicious use of a heat gun on the alloy receiver. If you have a vise, pad the jaws (with rubber if you have it) and clamp the barrel close to the action, muzzle up. Maybe wrap the barrel with aluminum foil so that it will not be heated. Then, as you heat the receiver, use a delrin/nylon drift to tap straight down on the fattest exposed section of the receiver with a dead blow hammer.

What you are doing is heating and expanding the alloy receiver from its grip on the steel barrel. Others may have better suggestions.

Another way is a wood dowel about the same size as the barrel extension and a couple good whacks. When I changed out the stock bbl for a Tac Solutions barrel I wrapped a piece of light sandpaper and gave a couple twist. Makes it easier down the road.

Stick the barrel in ice and a heat pad on the receiver.
