Great information! Now as soon as I can persuade JCord to ship that Beretta 21A to my local FFL I'll get a threaded barrel for it. And probably a Bowers Bitty.

If u r serious about the 21a I would STRONGLY suggest shooting it in person first. It was my #1 choice in the "worst gun you ever had" thread (or whatever it was called).Great information! The MkIV looks like it was designed to be a suppressor host, rather than the threaded barrel being an afterthought.Another vote here for both the MkIV and the SR by Ruger. Wife loves both a lot. I really love the MKIV
I've heard the blowback and port pop is rather noticeable. Would you agree? If u r serious about the 21a I would STRONGLY suggest shooting it in person first. It was my #1 choice in the "guns you wish u never bought" thread (or whatever it was called).
Well it would take a long time to list all the issues with that guns design (that I experienced anyway). I would probably start with very picky about ammo (both shape of nose for failure to feed issues and need for consistent very high power to have reliable slide operation -ie pretty much mini mags only). Inaccurate as all get out do to short barrel and horrible sights. Very susceptible to poor operation once even a little bit dirty. Incredibly loud and harsh muzzle blast. Uncomfortable/harsh to shoot. Inconsistent hammer strike. Pretty poor trigger but not the worst I've ever used. Probably a lot of other things I could mention but those are the top ones. In the other thread I called it a hateful, hateful gun and that is the best I can describe it for me. I honestly would not take one if someone gave me one for free (assuming resale was not possible I mean).I've heard the blowback and port pop is rather noticeable. Would you agree?
Interesting. Perhaps the suppressor helps with what I consider inherent flaws in the design. For example it relies on blowback -shooting the shell out the top kinda toward your face- for shell ejection rather than an extractor like most pistols have. Perhaps the suppressor adds more back pressure which makes it function more reliably. Imo it's a terrible design and a nightmare to own. But everyone is different and someone else may like it which is fine. That's why I recommend shooting it first as it is not a usual design and certainly not known to be reliable imo like many of the more standard designs.I was watching Hickok45's video of the suppressed 21a, and while he always loves the guns he tests, his was running smoothly and accurately, so I concluded it is not horrible.
Hmm maybe use something temporary like pieces of masking tape (or whatever) to determine how high sight should be then get a shotgun front sight that is about the same height?...
Still pondering what to do for a front sight.
I own one. Until I began to run cci in it, it wouldn't cycle. Very dangerous for a self defense weapon. Once you use the right ammo in it, it feeds and cycles properly. Try running cci.Interesting. It looks like you might have just enough barrel left to drill and tap for a front sight base. You might try something like this:This is how I roll..
Got an ugly Ruger Mark 2 cheap since the previous owner left it in a moist holster...and this happened:

And had Wally down at Gators chuck it up in his lathe...But to insure the bullet had time to stabilize and not risk bafflestrikes on my $400(+stamp) Silencerco Spectre2 we decided to leave 1.5" of Barrel. Glad I did, cause it only cycles reliably with CCI Standard Velocity, and later my buddy had his cut to 1/2" and it's a pain in thasss.
