There was no YT snip when I began my response, your honor.

My still image was a direct response to the text-only message that I initially received.

Let the ladies and germs of the jury know that had the post not been edited during the commission of my response, the response would have been null and void and changed accordingly.

I rest my case.
I'm with the guy that doesn't move dirt on this one.

21 foot rule real or erroneous?
just getting dark, standing out front with the wife in the yard,
at the corner of the street we hear running and 4 "teen males"
come running up and one slam's his body into a parked car.
they regroup and start walking our way (already told with to get ready to call 911)
they walk mid st and say hey how's it going, going ok till you body slam that car,
his inner rooster started up and start in with "you got a problem man and starts the cock walk toward me,
i say nope no problem at all cause my wife was already on the phone to the cops"
long story short.
nether me nore the wife at that time were armed except for a phone,
when the youth started the cock walk towards me i was ready to go 100% all in.

can't remember what military guy said it but
"if you go in to combat at only 50% and your enemy is at 100% you will loose,
i always go into combat at 100% so i know i am doing my best not to DIE"

the 4 youths were being looked for by the cops for tagging cars with paint.

gun or no gun 21 foot more or less always be ready to go full tilt bogie

I have always considered the 21 foot rule for what it was trying to teach.

Never underestimate the ability of your opponent.
Never let your opponent inside your 'personal space'
Never take your eyes off of your opponent
BELIEVE that he wants to hurt you/yours
Make him believe that you won't let him
Keep him at 21 feet

Practice point shooting, at < 21 feet, you'll be shooting from the hip most likely. I practice on human sized silhouettes, adjusted to an average height and practice @ 7,14 and 21 feet…

It's much more likely a realistic scenario than taking a shot halfway across a retail store, shopping mall or parking lot.

Years ago some great members of the gun club started up IDPA matches. It's my opinion that the best matches are those based on reality. Too often the matches are just run and gun under time score and just created for men to be happy shooting their guns.

The gents who started our IDPA had law enforcement backgrounds and the matches were more about learning and training.

They would set up realistic targets and show you how much training you need.

To display to you the 21 foot rule they would use a standard IPSC target mounted average man height in a little red wagon with a long rope on it. Target had a real shirt on it so you couldn't see you hits.

You stood 21 feet from the target with your gun in a strong side carry concealed by shirt or jacket.

The rope was laid out so as its pulled the wagon target would come toward you.

The picked the fastest youngest guy to run with the rope....when he was ready.

Not timing, no go buzzer, just step up to the firing line and be ready.

At the end they would pull off the shirt and score the target

Things moved very fast. :D
