The real world, and if you plan on doing it for a living, suggest you keep
all odds in your favor no matter how you are armed. If you take eight
rounds to a gunfight, it could prove fatal running dry at the wrong time.
Believe me when I tell you back up can be, or may not available. There
are times when all resources may have to be used to stay a winner. If
you feel secure with a weapon and eight rounds, so be it. No bullets, you
are left with an expensive club. Even the best paper shooter I know,
doesn't do so well with stress shooting. If you think that multiple targets
are generally put down with a single round, I don't think anyone will buy
that. Also the bad guy will not stand still at given range and allow you to
put a round into him or her. There are times when my 1911 is used as a
back up. It was used many years back as a primary, during Nevada Deputy
Sheriff days. Experience and newer equipment and firearms gives you room
for mind changes, and always attempt to be better prepared than the bad
ones. There are times when retreat is not an option, and you have to
work your way throught it. Unless accidental, most situations that could
be hazardous, are backed in this area, even if it is an outside agency.
After carrying a handgun since the 50s, with three different agencies, I
plan to continue to carry even though I do not agree with your standards.
