Call it socialism, or desperation, but yes, those hunger mad mobs will expect you to share, one way or another.
Hence the need for friends, a defensible perimeter, and the means to hold it.
And how do you counter Molotov cocktails in a wood frame house?
how long into a food crisis will we go before ^that^ is echoed among hunger mad socialists in your area?
The Socialists are coming! The Socialists are coming! Eeeeeek eeeeeeeeek eeeeeeeek.........................elsullo
Jim....Is Marshall Dillon really coming back? Or are you predicting Martial law?Again I predict Marshal Law when they are ready but how long it takes that law to get to your neighborhood depends on where you live. In the big city it will be right at your door and your neighbors will turn you in. Smaller cities may just keep government out.

if you make your house look like a fortress you'll just tip every one off. good to keep a low profile. also packing on pounds wile people are hungry may raise eyebrows

In 1990, the Russians cut all subsidies to Cuba, and forced them to buy oil on the open market. The result was a crash in Cuban food production (and most other parts of the economy). People were hungry. The result was not crazy mobs. They converted to home and community gardening, opened a free market for food products, began growing food everywhere in the cities to shorten distribution lines, and put the resources of their education system behind organic agriculture (due to lack of petro chemicals). They are now world leaders in this field.
The Cubans were already used to a low standard of living and cooperative activity. They also have a favorable climate and long growing season. Americans would react much differently.
We have a sense of entitlement that they don't have.We have alot of advantages they do not have.
