how long into a food crisis will we go before ^that^ is echoed among hunger mad socialists in your area?

have you taken measures to hide your stash?

perhaps a smaller decoy stash?

Call it socialism, or desperation, but yes, those hunger mad mobs will expect you to share, one way or another.

Hence the need for friends, a defensible perimeter, and the means to hold it.

And how do you counter Molotov cocktails in a wood frame house?

hardyplank cement board siding? just a thought - also I'm fairly sure that a well placed shot from my 22 or even pellet gun into said molotov cocktail would result in a wonderful shock and scare tactic making other members of the hoard think twice about being the one holding the weapon turned suicide torch... hypothetically speaking that is.

I can't predict the timing. Will occur shortly after the general population senses hyperinflation, and begins to hoard. Those crybabies always scream like a pack of chimps when they realize they are the last to know something important. Buying food (or anything else) when it is readily available (like now) is, of course, good for the economy, but those people do not understand economics or the wisdom in planning ahead.

Again I predict Marshal Law when they are ready but how long it takes that law to get to your neighborhood depends on where you live. In the big city it will be right at your door and your neighbors will turn you in. Smaller cities may just keep government out.

With the comments in this post - it sounds like most of you must live in Portland.
IN that case - they are not coming they are here. Everyone in Portland should pick up and move to Eugene and form defense lines. We will call when all is well.
What was that song - "They are coming to Get Me" .

The Socialists are coming! The Socialists are coming! Eeeeeek eeeeeeeeek eeeeeeeek.........................elsullo

if you make your house look like a fortress you'll just tip every one off. good to keep a low profile. also packing on pounds wile people are hungry may raise eyebrows

In 1990, the Russians cut all subsidies to Cuba, and forced them to buy oil on the open market. The result was a crash in Cuban food production (and most other parts of the economy). People were hungry. The result was not crazy mobs. They converted to home and community gardening, opened a free market for food products, began growing food everywhere in the cities to shorten distribution lines, and put the resources of their education system behind organic agriculture (due to lack of petro chemicals). They are now world leaders in this field.

The Cubans were already used to a low standard of living and cooperative activity. They also have a favorable climate and long growing season. Americans would react much differently.

Good points. Still, the example shows that it is possible to deal with big dislocations. We have alot of advantages they do not have.

We have a sense of entitlement that they don't have.

One in eight of us on food stamps now. Those just magically convert to food... 'til they don't. But hey, they're still good for cigarette 'n beer money at 50 cents on the dollar... 'til they aren't.

I fear civility is a pretty thin veneer on most people.
