It's fake.
Biggest clue is the 1935 date. The law that supposedly was also the basis for our GCA of 1968 didn't exist until 1938. The previous law had been in effect since 1928.

Here's what the Jews For the Preservation of Firearm Ownership have to say about it,

Question: Is the following an authentic Hitler quotation?

"This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future."
-- Adolph Hitler, 1935

Answer: No, it's a hoax. At least, nobody has been able to verify it. For more information, see:

The following is authentic:

Der größte Unsinn, den man in den besetzen Ostgebieten machen könnte, sei der, den unterworfenen Völkern Waffen zu geben. Die Geschichte lehre, daß alle Herrenvölker untergegangen seien, nachdem sie den von ihnen unterworfenen Volkern Waffen bewilligt hatten.

[The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.]
-- Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitlers Tischegesprache Im Fuhrerhauptquartier 1941-1942. [Hitler's Table-Talk at the Fuhrer's Headquarters 1941-1942], Dr. Henry Picker, ed. (Athenaum-Verlag, Bonn, 1951)

I'm sure you've been dying to use that, but here is what the article from your link states...

"and has been invoked for the inappropriate use of Nazi analogies in articles or speeches"

Though the OP was misinformed on his post, the entire gun control argument revolves around tyrannic governments, Nazi Germany falls in that category. As does communism, fascism, or any other form of government which controls the population through fear and the illusion of rights.

To "Godwin" oneself, the conversation would be a post about, a guy that took his mentally unstable buddy to learn about guns, and then having that devolve into Nazis being to blame. That is a situation where it is inappropriate. This situation is.
