The article states that it was a new law - not something that had been around for a while so yes it was signed off by the republican governor. Many things are the fault of us democrats and some are the fault of republicans but this one was done by the republican govenor. For once put the due where it belongs.

Party affiliation doesn't necessarily determine liberal vs conservative. A true conservative would have vetoed this and stood up for liberty. Party membership (blue vs red, shirts vs skins) is all part of the great illusion that keeps us distracted from reality.

Party affiliation doesn't determine whether a pol is rights friendly or not either - in fact, either major party loves to trample rights. The dems want to kiss your booboo and give you a bandaid if you fall down, ban guns, ban tobacco and ban porn. Republicans want to ban porn, ban marijuana and spank you if you smoke it, ban flag burning, and tell you to be a man if you fall down.

Which amendment a pol wants to trample varies by party, but they both want to trample multiple rights, often the same ones, just in different ways.

This law seems to also revolve around the intent to use or even know about the compartment & how to prove that without a mind reader?
