Yeabut by my math a soul is worth way more than $103,766.22.. priceless actually. The tax is therefore very high.

I'm not sure why they would have got that much? I mean, it's not hard to get out of the city limits to buy a fire arm. And why would any self respecting fire arms enthusiast help to support their stupid tax/program?

I understand that there is only 2 stores left that sell guns and ammo in Seattle, one is moving and the other one is closing down. Every big liberal city will be doing this now, what's to stop them from making it a $100 tax? $200? They will keep going until they drive out the gun stores. It's gun control under the guise of a tax.

This is EXACTLY what it is....

This tax has not achieved any of the claims, the Seattle Council, Police Chief Tool or Haborview's Dr. Fred Rivara said it would.

But what it has achieved.
Since Seattle Placed A Tax On Guns And Ammunition, The City's Violent Crime Rate Has Increased | Zero Hedge

It didn't achieve it's "declared claim", but it certainly accomplished it's "unspoken goal" which is/was to drive out all 2A dealers and transactions from their jurisdiction.

Those dirty stinking judges on the Washington Supreme Court know FULL WELL that was the "unstated intent", but they're just "pretending" to be clever. o_O

Pretty sure the Seattle Sportco store was responsible for 99% of the Seattle gun tax revenue.
Outdoor Emporium has been nice enough to drop their ammo prices to cover the extra tax so it hasn't been a burden to the consumer.
I'm going to go out on a limb and estimate the city spent a cool million in administrative cost managing this program.
Just another hole in the WA general fund bucket that's bleeding cash on some worthless project.

Remember after the nightclub shooting, many libs started buying handguns. That be the seattlelites that don't even know there is 2A. Bet the tax nets less in 17, unless there is another similar event.

Sure, Dave. Give 'em a reason to say the tax wasn't high enough.

Council candidate wants to increase Seattle's tax on guns

One of two candidates vying to replace Seattle Councilmember Tim Burgess wants voters to double down on the city's gun tax.

Jon Grant, who is running against Teresa Mosqueda for the seat being vacated Tim Burgess, says Seattle is being hit hard by gun violence and the gun industry needs to be held accountable.

The current tax of $25 per gun and 5 cents per round of ammunition was originally estimated to bring in as much as $500,000 in its first year. The money would be used for gun violence research and programs to reduce gun-related crimes.

The tax brought in just over $100,000 in 2016, according to documents the city recently provided after a public records battle with TheGunMag.

Grant says doubling the tax to $50 a gun and 10 cents per round of ammunition would beef up the research funding and ensure the gun industry shoulder's some of the costs of gun violence.

Burgess spearheaded the effort to bring a gun tax to Seattle.

You are preaching to the choir. Those you would like to impress knew it before the ink dried.. its a coup to their ability to irritate and so feel it is a step toward your behavior modification. They are aware very few laws ever are reneged so will stand forever providing them glee. Better to ignore them and work covertly to pass superseding laws confirming self protection at what ever cost or equipment that will nullify their childish tantrums.
