He is in jail for felony stupid.

I understand many here and across the nation support background checks, I simply do not. I am in the minority on this issue which is why we have them and why we have a million other laws on the books.

Edit: The idea of limited government went out the window a long time ago. The majority of people today are begging for more goverment in their lives.

That you're certainly entitled to your opinion goes without the need for stating. I'm also certain we would both agree that there is no question that the reach of government has grown way beyond a necessary proportion.

That stated, we live in a society of law and order. You're a violent criminal? You lose your rights. You're a rapist? You lose your rights.

Rights are not doled out, but they very well can be stripped and taken away, and if necessary, permanently.

Places like Haiti and Somali are that way ------------> for anyone advocating for a different approach. Good luck with that one.

Idaho seems to be civilized without requiring private party background checks. I imagine if they didn't have to do the Federally required background checks, the State would still be a nice place to live. The citizens not the laws determine whether a place will be nice or end up like the third world s-holes you mentioned.

Edit: And sure maybe cities in Idaho with relatively lax gun laws are plagued with more gun violence than big government cities with ultra strict gun laws, like Chicago, St Louis, Baltimore, etc but I would sacrifice my safety living in Idaho in exchange for more freedom.

I don't need a law to keep me from murdering my neighbors.

I can think of many countries with lots of laws that I wouldn't want to visit let alone live there.
