While the guy sounds like he could be trouble, [insert overused, out of context quote here].

"Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one."
Benjamin Franklin

Out of context or not, we get thought police and a nanny state involved, we've certainly fallen into a trap that is extremely difficult to get out of.

Background checks should not be required.
In this losers case, I got no problem with him being denied a firearm.

"At the time Kinard tried to buy the handgun, he was facing felony charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, attempted criminal sexual contact with a minor, two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor, first-degree assault and battery and two counts of dissemination of obscene material.

Kinard also was under a restrainIng order brought by his spouse, according to an ATF affidavit."

You are not alone, that is why we have the NFA and the GCA.

The guy sounds like a grade A jerk with a capital J, but here we go convicting people before they've ever had their trial.

Freedom isn't perfect and it isn't easy. The more restrictions you put in place for scenario A and scenario B, the less freedom we all have.

"He was never a danger to anyone because he wore an ankle monitor," Now there is a flawless system for preventing a homicide. Reminds me of a tag line from a movie, "...but who is monitoring the monitors?"

Accepting the fact that so far, the man hasn't been convicted of anything other than the 4474 issue. He sure has a long list of other accusations to yet answer for. Sometimes you get these people who seem like pillars of the community, yet behind the scenes there is chaos and criminality in their lives. Looks like this might be that kind of guy.

While he is in federal prison, he's gonna get a lot of travel time going to other court dates.

Sorry, I can't agree. I don't think felons should have guns. Denying felons the right to own guns has been around for a long time, federally since 1968.. BGC is a tool of enforcement. BGC also prevents some crazy people from obtaining guns. No, it doesn't catch them all, but it catches some.

From a personal standpoint, BGC is something in my favor at the time I need to sell a gun. I don't want to later have to answer questions like, "Why did you sell a gun to a felon?" The BGC gives me cover against that. I used to not think much about that, before BGC became law and you could freely sell a gun privately without one. BUT: Those days are over, the country has gone lawsuit-happy in the meantime.

I have a vague idea that some in the gun community who don't like BGC feel that way because it's an inconvenience to their buying and selling. Not so much a Constitutional issue. Possibly.

It's the Bill of Rights, not the Bill of Granted Permissions.
Felons lose that right when they are convicted.

This is the result of population growth. The more crowded up society gets, the more apt individuals are to get harmed. In every way, not just firearms issues. So the societal answer is more control. It's just the way it is, look back at history and the pattern is clear. You don't have to like it, it just is.

The NRA endorsed the final version of the NFA in 1934. Later, in 1968, they backed the final version of the GCA.

He was sufficiently abusive or threatening to motivate the application for a court order for protection. Bear in mind that not all applications lead to an order being issued. Many are rejected. There must be substantive and reasonable evidence. He chose to disobey the court order, which is a crime. He chose to lie on the 4473, another crime and a federal crime at that. He volunteered to be prosecuted. No pity here.

Keep in mind that Yahoo is, like CNN, an extremely biased source. Their leftist ideology is obvious in every article they post. In this case they are salivating that someone, even rightly, was denied a firearm, and they could praise and promote gun control laws. It fits their editorial narrative.

Solution: Stop accessing Yahoo.

The bgc got him not the 4473. Bgc flagged him and the 4473 was checked turning up the lie.

Maybe we should get this guy a red wig and run him for President

Kind of funny that Hunter biden's not in prison for lieing on his 4473 after admitting to.millions he has smoked the most Parmesan cheese ever thinking it was crack in the carpet........

I understand many here and across the nation support background checks, I simply do not. I am in the minority on this issue which is why we have them and why we have a million other laws on the books.

Edit: The idea of limited government went out the window a long time ago. The majority of people today are begging for more goverment in their lives.

Hunter lied twice, we all know it & years ago when we had real news they'd have been all over it. It's like we live in a 2 tier socialist state know as it's who you are or know & some like Hunter can get away with anything. The CIA went to the gun shop & demanded the form which the owner didn't give up which I'm glad he didn't.
