There are other reasons why I wouldn't pop my collar (on or off the range). I'll add "funneling" to the list.

Hooded sweatshirts seem to have a similar effect.

Try to REALLY minimize the gap between safety glasses and ball cap, otherwise, you may get a hot case that ricochets off the underside of the bill, down behind your glasses. a burn blister on the middle of the eyelids is kinda unpleasant! Now, I wear my cap REAL low, so the bill touches the top of the glasses. Dont want a repeat of that experiance.
