Letter writing time again. Here's a sample:

Once again the anti-gun people have wasted no time in presenting another bill designed to chip away and undermine, if not eliminate the peoples rights under the Second Amendment.

This time it’s “HR 45”

HR 45 would impose sweeping restrictions on our Second Amendment rights to own a firearm and set the stage for a ban on all private firearm ownership.

Aside from banning certain types of firearms, HR 45 would require that all firearms owners be subjected to stringent back ground checks, many of which are now only required for a “Concealed Carry Permit. Again this is “De Facto Gun Registration” which would ban unreported sales or transfers ($25.00 ea.) even those occurring between family and friends. Any violations would be a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
There is even a child provision clause on page 16, section 305, stating, "All guns must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18."

Inspectors would have the right to come and check that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility by children, and that fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

If passed, gun ban advocates will no doubt use this as a lever for further bans on firearm sales as well.

I think the basic issue we should be concerned with is the slow erosion of the rights guarantied the American People under the 2nd Amendment.

I know by voting against HR45 you will be once again displaying your good sense to the voters of our state by showing that you are not to be swayed by the clamoring of an emotional few and sensation seeking media.

Please vote to enforce the criminal codes as they now exist.
