Why so? Don't you think that a lawsuit or request for injunction by OFF is plausible or can be effective? I spoke with Kevin last night about the direction we're heading and there is action going on right now. Do you think OFF is not able to partner with other groups? I think it's important that disparaging remarks be backed up, especially when people are being asked to donate to multiple efforts.
Very true and Kevin is a long time fighter and the naysayers are part of the problem. He has been in this fight for at least the last 50 years.

None of these groups can do much until someone is affected by the new law. They need a victim.
They have a statewide victim. The very law is nearly all unconstitutional. The Supreme court has ruled on May parts in other states but Democrats ignore the supreme courts and continue over the cliff.

HOW WILL RULES BE WRITTEN?
Lift Every Voice Oregon committee members are conferring with state lawmakers and state police on setting up a Measure 114 committee and workgroup to write the rules on everything from the information sought on permit application forms to the type of courses required for safety training.

The proponents' goal is to have a committee that includes a wide range of stakeholders.

Other issues to be decided: Whether state police need more employees to compile a database of those granted permits and others who are rejected; how much money or staff county sheriffs' offices will need to handle the permit process and what resources are needed to help state police do additional background checks for permit applicants.

"When you do something as comprehensive in terms of a new procedure, it's almost impossible to put it all in the statute," said Liz McKanna, a member of Lift Every Voice Oregon's legislative committee.

"Part of it is we also want input from the people who are going to be administering the permitting process," she said.

Sen. Floyd Prozanski, D-Eugene, who chairs the Senate's Judiciary Committee, said lawmakers still must work out a timeline and a process to assign various bills relating to Measure 114 to different committees.

Rep. Jason Kropf, D-Bend, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, said he'll also be working with legislative counsel on next steps to implement the measure.

No dates are set yet.

Who in the Blue F*** is allowing these a-holes to have anything to do with the legislation. They weren't elected to do sh**.

What the Actual Phuck, Over! Allowing unelected people to write law post facto???
Who is stupid enough to allow this, and what more, who is going to stop this horsesh!t!!!

The proponents' goal is to have a committee that includes a wide range of stakeholders.

If that's the case, every firearms owner in Oregon, that voted no on the measure, should be on that committee. The problem is that traffic court Floyd will chair the committee. Everyone knows he doesn't give two schitts about what anyone else thinks. We've seen it over and over again from him.

On the plus side this may mean that the effective dates of the bill will be pushed out for sometime while they finalize the rules. The bad news is the measures effects could get even worse if they are allowed to change stuff after the fact. What a messed up legislative world we live in.

We are obviously not up to speed on how Measures go from ballot to being recorded in the Oregon Revised Statutes?

The only rule that I can see that can possibly pass constitutional muster for the bill is that sellers would be required to provide a pamphlet explaining how to safely operate a firearm. The operating instructions that come with a new firearm will suffice. For a used firearm, information on how to use Duck Duck Go will be adequate.

Traffic court Floyd will most likely try to push the Texas LTC live fire test again.

What can we do about measure 114 individually? I believe the court case(s) to overturn this unconstitutional law is the most effective way to fight this.

We have seen in the last months that court cases are extremely effective in striking down these gun control laws, one after another. This is largely due to the Bruen decision that said the right shall not be infringed and shall be based on the gun laws that existed in 1791 (the time when the second amendment was created).

We need to push that imo and continue to build precedent that these unconstitutional gun laws will not stand! The body of precedent cases we can help create builds an inpenetrable fortress for protecting our gun rights far into the future (perhaps forever).

Perhaps this piece of sh!t legislation passing is just what we need to make us shift from the old "support the nra and they will fight it via lobbyists" (which is now ineffective Imo) to fighting these laws in court (which is now very effective post-Bruen imo). This could not have happened pre-Bruen so we have an unprecedented opportunity right now to make a difference by shifting our efforts to striking down these laws in court.

I think we need to identify the lead group who will be effective in fighting this in court and support them.

I'm going hazard a guess that the "rules" are already to go and this is just window dressing.

As you wrote, a financial donation to whomever takes on this case. It's gonna take money, a whole lotta spending money …
We really need to compile a thread (stickie) of any and all credible groups hitting this thing with lawsuits. If for no other reason so we can start making generous donations, because this fight ain't going to be easy nor on the cheap.
That is why the Senate was so important and I am afraid we might have lost that opportunity.
Indeed. Senate is now lost. As of this writing the House is still up in the air. And, naturally, two more years of the present POTUS. It is unlikely anything pro-2A is going to happen anytime soon and the best we can hope for is continued gridlock at the Federal level.

The battle is in the courts.

If they couldn't win big in this environment they got serious problems.

Some GOP rep would know or be able to find out what process is used

Not only that, what's worse, is Gov'ness K8 still residing under the Gilded Logger in Salem, She will keep the Capital locked and off limits, so there will be ZERO participation from anyone NOT on the LEVO team! Were Phucked!
