My thoughts?
Read the comic NOW.
Save yourself from AMC's bull-bubblegum programming, outside of Breaking Bad and reruns of Predator.

The deviations from the comic are just a damn joke, and in a sense make the show worse.
TV deviations: Carl getting shot standing near a deer, product placement, the CDC, I haven't heard "roamer" used yet (maybe I need hearing aids?), etc

Read the comic. Sit down in a bookstore and just read it, you don't even need to buy the book. If you've read the comic, up to issue 40′ish, you'll more or less space out whenever the TV program is on. It is no where nearly as gritty as the comic.

Although +1 to Norman Reedus, he actually makes the show worth watching, when I'm not spacing out.

C'mon, you can't expect them to just turn the comic into live action. Where would be the suspense in a show where all the fans knew what was happening?

Actually I do expect them to do that. The suspense would be with the acting, and sometimes it's even better than the comic this way.

I have a tendency to read about a movie before I watch it. This includes spoiling the ending sometimes. Though I know what's going to happen I'm more curious to know how the movie executes something I've read about. Does it spoil the movie? Not for me, but of course I only reserve this principle for movies I'm skeptical about already, or have read the book.

Have you read the comic before?

Acting can't build suspense if you know what is coming next. No movie is ever as scary the second time you watch it. if you know what is going to happen next week where is the strong sense of desire to tune in and see what happens next.

I still love the Walking Dead. By the way, to much zombie killing and no character development will burn out the show. On a separate note, has anyone watched Homeland. Definitely worth seeing.

There is not character to most of these shallow trival and unintelligent people. Imagine three people anywhere in the south who do not know about Wal-Mart?

Every year 2-2.5 billion 22 caliber cartridges are manufactored. One single case of 5,000 rounds and five Ruger 10/22's would clear out a small town in about three hours. A pallet of 22 ammo is sitting in the back of Bass Pro, knowing that why drag a shotgun and 14 shells everywhere you go?

Here would be a plan for six people with I.Q.'s higher than a bag of marbles.

1. Stop be neighborhood construction company or DOT yards and get the service truck. It has oil, fuel, lubricants and parts for maintaining trucks.
2. Get a couple of trucks and four-wheelers for God's sakes.
3. Maybe a water tanker for your stinky friends to wash.
4. Guns and ammo. America has 500,000,000 small arms in private hands and hundreds of police departments, highway patrol stations and national guard bases.
5. Leather jackets anyone?
6. Find some blades, pikes and axes
7. Food, clothes, camping gear and a few hundred pounds of razor wire.
8. Generators, lights and something to project flame. Anything both useful and solar powered.
9. Radio, here is a banging idea, news of the world and communications as well.
10. Oh yeah,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a plot.

Last night they explained why this guy was nailing his best friends wife and telling her he was dead,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he is really a DEMOCRAT. He is willing to do anything or betray anyone to meet his basic needs or whims, he is selfish and untrustworthy and he is a liar,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all qualities adored by democrats the world over.

A freeway full of cars and trucks and these guys drive junkers?
With 90% of America dead, they still cannot find one single AR? or a spare box of shells?
Imagine a world with not a single 22 caliber rifle or radio,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and you have theirs.

This is the problem when anti-gun socialists try and write stories where everyone needs a gun. Heck,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that one idiot cannot even find bolts for his crossbow. I guess the problem is the 14 day waiting period for pokey things?

I've scene better writing on stall walls.

amen!

This show is WRITTEN BY LIBERALS FOR LIBERALS.

A 12-gauge shotgun is probably one of the worst Anti-Zombie weapons imaginable. I can carry maybe 100 Rounds max, and the noise and recoil would soon wear out even the strongest warrior.

a .22 LR Ruger 10/22 with 25-Round mags would be a far better choice. I can carry 1000 rounds easy, and with little to no recoil I could "String" my hits and a dozen zombies would fall dead within seconds. Not to mention with Subsonic Ammunition, it would be a quiet weapon, even without a suppressor. Make my shots count, and 1000 rounds = 1000 kills.

I know that I would be "Outnumbered 30 Billion to 1", but the right weaponry and tactics would give someone far better chances.

Now, what if those Survivors were Each Armed with a 10/22, Four 25-Round mags, and 500 Rounds?

DO THE MATH!!! If each Survivor could kill 100 Zombies with just what's in their magazines, then 6 of them could hold off 600+ Zombies.

Now let's ratchet things up a bit.

What if there were 30 or 40 Survivors?

I agree with everything but that its written for liberals. It's definitely written for the horror geek crowd, the problem is the writers are clueless to the fact that a good portion (I'd argue most actually) of horror geeks are Moderate to Conservative. If you break it up by genres you'll find that when it comes to zombies the fans tend to be more Conservative than not. I used to belong to more than a few horror forums, in addition to running one and it always amazed me that when we added political sections Conservatives tended to outnumber Liberals. I'm not sure why that is the case but a theory of mine is that horror, especially the movies from the 70's to the 80's were until recently a last bastion of unPC thinking, and a middle finger to the feminists, gays, and just about every other liberal whiner group out there.

The problem is that those shows and books are based on the imaginations of what some people THINK zombies are really like. Unfortunately, it's a bad guess.

NOW, for those of us who have actually seen and fought REAL zombies, it's a big yawner.

i seen a large pod of zombies at the occupy wall street protests, these zombies had less idea why they were there than the ones on walking dead though...they just seemed to want to dirty up parks,do drugs, rape chicks and cost tax payers more money and the sad part is we were not allowed to shoot them

God this show is painful to watch. I actually like some of the actors and some of the character development. The problem is the socialists who write this anti-gun crap are so damned stupid. They know nothing about firearms, tactics or basic survival and assume everyone is as stupid as they are. They assume only massive idiots would survive a natural disaster and that banding a group of massive idiots together into an enclave if stupidity would somehow allow them to live. Really? Only the ignorant survive, the lose the abilty to use soap, screw and feed themselves overnight? 98% of the people in America die and they cant find a decent gun, camper or car? Can't find a house to sleep in? Can't find an unclogged road?

Here is my favorite part,,,,,,,the road is blocked completely,,,,,,,,,,,,ON ONE SIDE!!!!! and they cant drive on the other side for some reason???????? Afraid of tickets from the zombie police????? Really???????

If the combined brain power of the writers of this show was made into a laser, it would not melt ice cream.

90% of the military would survive something like zombies, 75% of all red necks would do fine as well, most criminals have the survival instincts of cock roaches and would still be around and every immigrant from a 3rd world country would not suffer to badly without TV and electricity. Thus the zombies would be wiped out in short order and things would return to semi-normal.

Take a look at that park on Wall street,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,last night they removed the zombies and disinfected the place, it looks fine.

Funny, these shows never have a living survivalist. With sound being what draws the zombie how come nobody tries to suppress a gun? Reality is that people would hunt the zombies rather than run from them.
