I am not a .45 ACP 1911 fan for a few reasons, but I can appreciate it and those that like the gun. But a double stack 9mm 1911/2011 makes a lot of sense to me (if I could only find one that had everything I wanted but didn't cost +$2k).

- 9mm double stack gives you the capacity you want
- Single stack 1911 doesn't fit my hand well, so it requires some after market grips to make it wider, so might as well go with a double stack 9mm to begin with
- Get the great ergonomics of the 1911 (grip angle..etc.)
- Get a great 1911 SAO trigger

There is a lot to like about a double stack 9mm 1911/2011. A single stack 9mm 1911 much less so for me.

Kimber Target II 9mm with some custom work. One of the nicest 1911's I have.

I was just thinking this.:s0101:
Been considering a STI 2011. If I go 9mm 1911, I really want the best of both worlds. I just can't wrap my mind around the price of that Combat Master. The crazy part of me wants to get a few of the mags now though, cause....you know.
I have an STI Edge like in the pic above.
They are out of production now. (they're pushing the Staccato line)
Dawson said that I got the last 9mm.
They still had some 40's a while back still in stock.
I would email Dawson and see what they have left.

STI is no longer STI, they changed their name to Staccato.

I see a Staccato P DPO in my future, I already have three mags so I'm committed. :D

LOL
They are pushing their new Staccato line HARD.
To me it's like when they re-named The Rose Garden to the Moda Center.
Some dealers still use "STI" in their product descriptions.

No doubt about it the STI products are real lookers. I fondled one once in a LGS. Didn't have the $$$ to afford one. Still don't. Old school thinking here - shoot what you like and like what you shoot. In the end they all do the same thing - punch holes in targets.
