I just finished watching The Real Pompeii, a documentary that uses footage from the movie "Pompeii". Getting the movie out of the way first, there was no acting shown but the scenes of how the Pompeiians lived in A.D.79 were excellent! The special effects both spectacular and beautiful!
Now to what impressed me. The archaeologists showed a small, folding bronze plaque that showed the military history of the fellow who lived in the house where it was located. He was a Marine in the Roman fleet for 26 years. This plaque was his DD:214! It also showed that he was a citizen of the Empire which he earned for his 26 yrs. I just thought it was pretty darned cool!
