Lexington gets the publicity, but Concord is where the real fighting happened. Stayed at the Concord Colonial Inn the last time we took a New England vacation.

I was born in Virginia and would fly back there every year to visit my dad, we would always go to the old presidents homes, and the civil war battlefields.
I remember standing on an old rock bridge looking on to this field that was the place of an old battlefield. There was an early morning fog low over the field.
It was the most eerie feel place I had ever been.
You could feel the loss and death in the air.

It was similar for me at Gettysburg, I spent many days there. There is a stillness that almost has physical weight.
