(Mediaite) On Friday, Colorado’s Arapahoe High School was put on lockdown while a student armed with a shotgun took over the school in an attempt to confront a teacher who he believed had wronged him. The student, identified as 18-year-old Karl Pierson, took his own life before he could be taken into custody.

In a profile on the shooter in the Denver Post which focused on his “strong political beliefs,” several of Pierson’s classmates offered their impressions of the shooter. One of the shooter’s classmates described him as a “very opinionated socialist.” Shortly after that post was published, however, that description was edited out.

Of course, since Pierson's mom was a school district employee (no doubt a public employee union member), many details of his politics, and how he acquired them, will stay hidden from the public.

I think the average High Schooler believes they know better then anyone else. They think their way is the ONLY way until reality proves them wrong. Then they tend to throw a tantrum which seems to be the case with this shooting. His goal seemed to be eliminate the person who disagreed with him. A normal person would consider another persons view point whether or not they agreed with them entirely or in part. Heck here on NWFA we have plenty of discussion that can be controversial or at least challenge an individual's way of thinking.
