"Old school" all the way. These modifications were popular during my father's time. (b. 9/291917/ d.9/6/1975).
Dad never did this to his "slicked-up" (action job) 2" barreled .38/44 ("N" framed) S&W.

I have a Colt Official Police with a shortened barrel.
Always thought it would be a good candidate for a Fitz conversion.

But I just cant bring myself to cut up an old Colt with such nice original frame finish.

Maybe a Charter Bulldog .44? One of the early good ones. It wouldn't bother me too badly to hack one of those up.

I wouldn't do it to mine. It is a beautiful stainless steel Bridgeport Conn. model (1991). I could see doing it to an Astra, but not the .44 Special that saved my hide.
