The NRA was here to fight 1639 before the vote. The NRA is funding half of the federal lawsuit against 1639 now. The NRA has the ONLY full time lobbyist working in WA. SAF is a great organization and working harder than anyone else in the courts. FPC and GOA are non existent in WA or OR.

The gun grabbers are delighting in the commotion, and adding fuel to the fire. We need the NRA, a leaner and meaner NRA...they are powerful in their numbers and reach. This is the time to come together and fight as one, not turn on our own. We need all hands on deck.

Sorry the NRA wasn't. They spent $10K and a damn bumper sticker in the Rifleman Magazine. GMAFB! They knew it was a lost cause. I'm a PFL Member of the NRA. Until Wayne is tarred and feathered and ran out on a rail, not another GD dime!

Actually the NRA put 6 people on the ground around the state, full time for 4 months. Printed 20,000 signs and a hundred thousand flyers.They produced and paid for radio ads and developed a website specifically to defeat the bill. They held 17 regional meetings on getting active, ours had over 300 people in attendance in Vancouver. I think the total spending was around $600.000, that can be verified at the PDC. We can disagree on how effective they were, but they were the ONLY 2A group on the ground fighting...and helped support our fight substantially, and still are by funding half our lawsuit against the state of Washington. They are flawed, they they are here still, today, fighting for us in the state legislature and federal court.

Every few decades any organization needs a house cleaning. Sad that those who argued so valiantly against Clinton-era freedom control (let's call it what it is). have fallen from favor. I grant there may be valid reasons, but it's still sad.

However, we must look at the organization, and past the flawed leadership. Toward the goals and principles while ignoring the in-fighting. The NRA has faced worse and survived.

It will also survive this.

Part of being conservative is having a brain and using it.

The libs with their "common sense gun control" line are winning many people over because moderates don't realize what that actually means.

You have to talk sense and cause and effect etc and be able to explain it, that is where you lose many.

Now a days it is a buzz word & catch phrase driven world.

No one wants to listen and try to understand a logical explanation that requires thought, understanding and paying attention for more then 60 seconds.

That's good to hear. There's probably a lot more going on 'behind the scenes' than most realize, which is good.

But IMHO, and at the risk of being an armchair quarterback, the NRA, (as well as GOA, SAF, etc) need to make a strong, much more public, centralized display. The NRA website lists 'grassroots, and FALs, etc. But they needed a centralized, confident LEADER here for folks to rally behind. Someone on the news/TV/radio, organizing and leading efforts. 'I'm Executive So & So from the NRA-ILA, and this is what we're going to do...and we need EVERY NRA member and EVERY law abiding gun owner to support us by X, Y, Z.' And that LEADER and their staff needs to be visiting to every range, match, gunshop, and pro2A organization in the state to get people on board.

And as posted before, the shooting community, as a whole, needs to get a lot more inclusive...Designate a couple days a year where every range in WA. offers free intro/safety training range days with a BBQ, stuff like that...shooting is FUN, let others experience it...

As always, easier said than done...
