Lift Every Voice Oregon swore that if the Oregon Legislature doesn't pass an "assault weapon" and "large capacity" magazine ban similar to IP 43 they will put this on the 2020 ballot, and it would likely pass in blue Oregon. This is their Plan B.

I hate to say it, but it would almost be better if the Legislature passed a toned-down "assault weapon" ban to keep IP 16 from getting on the ballot, because IP 16 would surely be even worse. The lesser of two evils. Being hung instead of being drawn and quartered.

Thats my fear/worry too. If ANYTHING gun control got to the ballot that it would be a massive pass. Mid terms suggests so.

A constitutional amendment like this would take care of all this nonsense. Did this effort die with her campaign?

It is still out there. BUt I think the AG poison-pilled it by making it stick that the "boyfriend loophole" would be repealed. i.e. most people are going to see that and not vote for it. I don't know any more than anyone else here, but I am wondering if they will need to refile it.

I look at the petitioner. Only one person. When I looked up his name, I see that he has a history of filing initiatives to challenge the process. I don't know what his underlying plan is, but I think this particular initiative is just a vehicle to him.

- IP16, the rebirth of IP43
- SB501, the infamous "20 rounds per month etc" bill
- HB2251, Kate Brown's attack on the RKBA​

Let's replace the old stickies on this subforum and start mobilizing to counter these new threats.
