I tried that sex for TP thing and it didn't work out! I was given this instead:

Good for use as toilet paper or light reading.

I'm thinking lots of work ahead for plumbers. Outhouse okay, water evacuated systems, not so much.

In my dad's time during the Depression in Iowa, they used corncobs. Really. After all, they are kinda fuzzy after they've been shucked. Use brown cob first, then yellow cob to see if another brown cob is called for.

This thread has been the most entertaining one in a while! :s0114: All kidding aside, I am fascinated by human history and origins and it seems that the Barter System has been with us since the beginning! It has evolved right along with us as we advanced in technology and in cooperation. We began to specialize as groups and individuals because we knew we had a way of making sure all our needs would be met if we made or worked on something of value to someone else or other group. That became the basis of all civilization and exploration. In my opinion, it's why we have the most successful and fruitful economic system now...Capitalism! No matter how complicated it has become, we can always go back to basics, simple barter, and we know we can have that stability we all want. My 2 cents and a bag o chips!

Its always been "how valuable is my labor"? Is my labor worth say, a car? House? Property? Wife/husband? That sort of thing. Capitalism is the idea that labor is worth something, and may vary according to percieved value; while socialism/communism is the idea that all labor is worth the same (or worthless) and that State or the Society determines the worth.

Neighbor across street works at Costco, trading a smoked Tri tip or ammo for TP. (The only item I didn't have a decent stash of) Elderly couple 3 houses down said they were almost out of TP so I brought them a 6 pack which will be rewarded with cookies at a later date.
