Dr Németh does it again! Another remarkable movie on Youtube from our redoubtable doctor of military history - this time the complex but very effective tube-lock ignition system as used by Hungary for a short period in the 1840s and 50s.

Of particular interest to re-enactors is the complex uniform he wears to so the loading and shooting evolutions. The use of a loose ramrod, held on a strap around the neck, was common on central European cavalry troops, especially for the carbine and pistol, but odd to see on what we would call skirmishers or Jaegers. Still, autre pays, autres facons....

Watch it and enjoy the learning curve, as ever, it's well-worth your time.

In case anybody here has ever wondered how Dr Németh can have so many beautiful black powder firearms, even taking into account that he also runs a famous Pedersoli dealership in Budapest [kapszli.hu], it is because of Hungary's friendly laws regarding such arms...

Tr. Black powder muzzle loading guns: It is legal to purchase, keep, import and export a black powder gun for an individual over 18 years without a permit (regardless if it is single or multi shot, repro or original, rifled, or smooth bore, matchlock, flintlock, wheel-lock or percussion lock), but a permit (reloading or black powder shooting permit) shall be obtained to buy black powder and primers.

The permit mentioned is free.
