Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
That's a beast. Some of the southern Oregon coast rivers used to have some good striper runs. My biggest was in the 20lb range out of the Coos river. That was back about 1980. The Smith out of Reedsport still has some that show up and I've heard of a few in the Coquille again.
The lures that I used were all of the "reel and jerk" kind... they made a big splash and darted along compared to poppers which just sit there:
I still have one like this in a tackle drawer. It is heavy and sinks, so you have to reel fast to keep it on the surface, then you rip it with the rod and make a splash.
