Teen commits suicide after accidentally shooting friend

Sad story, not sure of these kids background, but what a tragedy.

I had two friends who weren't the greatest kids, in 6th grade they would skip school a lot and smoke weed, drink.
One day they were at one of their houses the kid had his dad's pistol, they were both high and drunk, and the kid put the gun to his head not thinking it was loaded and pulled the trigger.

Needless to say the other friend was never the same, and ironically in high school shot himself in the leg carrying a gun.
He was really messed up in the head
(not as much as the kid who shot himself) but mentally.

The gun wasn't stolen but wasn't properly registered either...

Michigan has mandatory firearms registration?

Both were too young to legally purchase a handgun, so inquiring minds would like to know where the gun came from?

Perhaps a relative? Think there's more to the story that hasn't been told yet...

I'll wait for the rest of the story before passing any additional comments or views...
