I fell in to a deal on an Encore and will be picking it up this weekend. It is currently barreled with a 15in muzzle loader barrel but i'm looking to change that. I intend to shoot paper mostly but would not mind attempting silhouette matches or the occasional critter. I handload and cast so i'm not too worried about more obscure chambering (parent case availability is a concern). I would like to keep the caliber at 6mm or above to play the silhouette game but don't want to get punished with recoil. I guess i need to worry about barrel length for competition so my options are 10 3/4in or 15in. So do you have any recommendations? Here is my shortened list in order:
357mag (got a bunch already)
44mag (future revolver on wish list)
300BO (future upper?)
7TCU (common parent brass)
7-30w (looks good)
30-30 (available)
41mag(limited components)
358win (a little big?)
357MAX (i really like it but there is NO brass available)
444mar (way too hot)
If you have any other TC pistol wisdom you want to share, i'm all ears.
