Good move on dumping that no-point. Taurus 627 is awesome gun if you are interested in a ported 7 shot .357/38.

I have a 6" one that is smooth as silk both in action and trigger. They are excellent value imo.

I don't know if Taurus has improved the quality of their revolvers or not. The 66 Silhouette I had back in 2002-2003 had some improperly heat treated steel in it. The ejector rod bent on mine and I suspect that wasn't the only part that wasn't annealed properly. But what do you expect from a Brazilian gun company?

The 66 is a K-frame equivalent with a six shot cylinder of good ole .357. I had an older 4" 66 that was smooth and accurate.

The 605 would be a J-frame equivalent with a five shot cylinder in .357. No experience with this model but other J-frame equivalents that have passed through these hands have been of good quality and been reliable.

Hope that helps.

Looking to sell my .45 High Point and getting a Taurus 66 or 608. Anybody have experience with either of these and have any advice on which one to get?!
Get a S&W or Ruger if you want to shoot 50,000-500,000 trouble free rounds. If you want something to keep your socks in your sock drawer company, get a Taurus.

I can't speak to all Taurus revolvers, but I have an 85 that has been problem free. Haven't put thousands of rounds through it though.
For what you're likely to get for the Hi-Point, I'd just keep it. Although I understand that every penny sometimes counts.

I get rewards points for doing training from my job. I'm close to a $500 Cabelas gift card. I really want a revolver that doesn't break the bank.

I've always been a huge fan of those! I got a Cabelas $500 gift card and I don't think they sell the Trackers anymore 😭

I'm just looking for a nice revolver for around $500-$700 and I enjoy my Taurus G2C.

$600 for this absolute gem..

With the cabelas card in hand, just start haunting their used handgun counter. Their pricing on used guns makes no sense at all . I've picked up some nice scores in the Gun Library, it just takes a little time.

It appears that you may be in the same process of what many of us went thru when money was scarce, buying something and then upgrading later. That is okay, but it costs more money in the long run then just saving money until you can afford buying the higher quality gun to start with.
You are going to take a loss on the Hi-Point if you sell it now and you will also take a loss on the Taurus if you decide to sell it in the future. I would suggest continuing to shoot and enjoy the Hi-Point and keep saving money until you can afford a used S&W, Colt or Ruger, they will also hold their value better. You can probably resell any of those for the same price you paid buying a 2nd hand one.
You may want to visit the rental counter at local gun ranges and get experience shooting as many revolvers as possible before deciding what to purchase.
