Gotta be something on that list for everyone.

Best off buying targets at sportsmans. Printing your own targets seems like a good idea but it isn't. You put wear and tear on your printer, but more importantly printer paper makes crappy targets. When you shoot the edges of the paper around the hole curl back up it is hard to see your holes.

Getting the regular target paper when you shoot a hole in it, it leaves the hole and that makes it 10 times easier to see from your bench

Considering the price of printer ink, it may be more economical to just shoot green photos of George Washington.:D

I used to shoot Lucky Gunner and some NWFA printed targets all the time
then a ran out of ink
and you can buy a new printer for the price of more ink.

Now I cut out my own IDPA-style targets out of scrap cardboard. Gives me something to do while I'm sitting around the fire, smoking a cigar and drinking whiskey.

What I do is to.....

Print one target. Then, I'll take it to my local Office Place and xerox as many copies as I want. Yes, the holes aren't pretty when the bullets go through them. But, I'm not shooting a regulation match....it's only practice and IMHO, good enough for that purpose. I usually have a bunch of 100 yds reduced sized Hi-Power Rifle targets with me when I go to the range. They're useful for both rifle and pistol practice (nice and big black bull's eye).

Hint: Also, print up a bunch of those "fun" .22LR targets for the kids.

BTW.....I once had a print shop print up a bunch of targets on better paper for a not so serious club match. I probably broke some copywrite law. But don't tell anyone.

I put printed targets on cardboard using that 3m spray. Makes for easy to see from the bench. Also makes it easier to put more targets onto a cardboard, so easier to set multiple targets.

It's a toss up between doing above and using the shoot-n-see type stuck to cardboard. Bought in bulk off of amazon they are priced pretty decent.

I use a laser printer with refillable drums and cardstock. Lately, I've been making shoot-n-see targets with materials from dollar tree

I print mine on index card stock on a black laser printer. I have to feed the sheets one at a time, so it is slower than printing on autofeed regular paper, but the targets are much tougher and hold up better. Generic toner isn't that expensive, and I think I got the printer for like $60, a few years back.

+1 2ndtimer;

I use 100 pound beige or tan colored paper, it feeds through my super cheap, garage sale laser printer. It costs about a nickel per target, and does not smear when wet. 100 pound is ridged enough to give good holes that don't tear like standard weight paper.

It sure beats buying highpower repair centers and allows a great range of targets ... but I typically only shoot a couple.

I have also made my own shoot-n-see type targets, they work pretty well too.

As far as ink goes, I just bought a new HP printer. They have a program for $3 a month you can print 50 sheets (it's an air/WiFi printer and they know when to send ink). Or for a few more $ they have an unlimited plan. I got another set of ink cartridges in the mail about two weeks after purchase, I didn't even need to order!

I have been shooting laser printed targets for many many years now. I agree inkjet targets are too expensive to print but laser printer targets with recycled toner cartridges are very cheap. I usually take a piece of cardboard, a box or even a scrap piece of plywood or wafer wood with me to staple the targets to. I am SO CHEAP I can even secure all four corners of the targets with about 2 staples per target by overlapping the corners of the next target over and next target under and using their staples to secure the corners of the previous target (Those extra staples can really add up man! :). I haven't had any problems with target corners curling if all 4 corners are stapled.

I have never had problems registering hits on standard bond paper.
