Tapping a Maverick 88 for a red-dot?

Looks like I'm going out next week and want to put some slugs(for the first time) down my 88's barrel. I have seen a number of Mossberg 500s and 88s with a red dot on them, and I know it will take some careful drilling and tapping. I am able to do the work, I just want to hear from someone who has done it or had it done to their own weapon.

At this time I have the weaver rail, the drill bits and the proper taps. Just need the correctly sized screws and I'm good to go.
