On a more serious note. Everyone needs to keep an eye on this: HB 1012 - 2013-14

They are seeking to change the provisions for justifiable homicide. Under Current law in the OP situation if Mr Rhodes had died, the homeowner woudl likely not face criminal charges. As we can see, to this date the homeowner has not been charged with anything.

If the house bill linked above passes, he likely WOULD be charged as he was not in immediate risk of bodily harm and did not retreat. The bill above seeks to change WA law to essentially remove "castle Doctrine". The above law would require you to retreat befroe you are legally able to shoot in SD. Though WA does not have "Castle doctrine" as a definition or specific law, the way our laws are framed we have it without calling it that.
