A hotel employee shot a man who was threatening three employees with a weapon Tuesday night in Pierce County.

Police say a 45-year-old man, who brandished a knife, threatened workers at the Quality Inn and Suites Tacoma in the 8800 block of South Hosmer Street around 11:45 p.m.

A 32-year-old female employee shot the man, who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was shot in the left abdomen, according to the police scanner. The woman called 911 claiming she shot someone outside and the victim was still moving on the ground.

The man was booked for three counts of assault upon being released from the hospital.

So Quality Inn's allow their employees to carry firearms? :s0020:

Rest of a story?
Some folks only "allow" their employers so much control. Possibilities are far ranging in this situation. The bullet's recipient could have been a problem for hours or even days. This would leave plenty of time to fetch a pistol from her car. Here's hoping she gets a bonus, and not a final paycheck.

VERY much suspect she will lose her job over it but, she can find another job.
Yea, she can go work at Amazon and make $30 plus an hour to phuck up people's orders. I bet they will relish the idea of someone who owns an evil gun and actually used it to protect others...
Wait, on the other hand she is a woman... so Amazon will probable give her a pass... ya know because she is oppressed by the evil human male population...

That street has become quite sketchy during the last four years. Many cheap hotels and places to buy liquor. I expect that many employees at that street's businesses carry.

Last 4 years? That area of town has been a bad place to be after dark for decades now. There has LONG been a mix of fairly nice, middle of the road, and dump hotels all along there. The problem with the nice ones is they are next to the dumps. One of them was a "hot bed hotel" until the state made those illegal. So even those staying at a better one share the area with a lot of dopers and prostitution. There has been a bunch of bars come and go there over loss of liquor license due to shooting. One big problem with the place is being just off I5 many of the places look "ok" in the daylight. So unsuspecting travelers will often stop, rent a room, then when the sun goes down the place they are in turns into an open air drug and prostitution market all around them. Even the Denny's there for a good while was forced to hire and Off duty Cop on the weekends to keep their business license due to, too many bad fights in and outside the place.

Bingo.

An employee who spoke to KING 5 on condition of anonymity said she thinks the suspect was drunk and that workers had had previous encounters with him. She said that she had never seen the man sober.
