Collector in me decided to keep it, and man, those Pachmayr Decelerator pads? They're magic.

The original markings on the rifle do not say 7.5x55, as far as I can see. I may be missing something. However, I imagine the Swiss saw that as an unnecessary mark, as it was the only cartridge the rifles were ever chambered for. The CAI import mark does list the caliber as 7.5x55.

The ammo is marked "7,5mm Gewehrpatrone 11", also known as 7.5x55mm GP11.

Interestingly, in my searching for an ammo marking, I noted the 56 on the tang. This is not a serial number; it is a rearsenal year. I have updated the posting to reflect this.

I have one of these rifles and I love it. It seemed to recoil about as much as a 30/06.
It looks like it is in great condition. With the ammo this is a sweet deal. Good luck
with the sale.
