That's literally waiting for a vote from the house to make all firearm purchases a 10 day wait. There's another getting traction also just like Oregon Where you need the governments permission to buy anything.
Is anyone familiar with how long it took this stalker case to escalate, that would make great testimony. Similar to the New Jersey woman who was stabbed to death by her ex while the chief of police sat on her permit to purchase application for over the one month turn time allowed by law.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Two people are facing charges after entering an elderly couple's home in Northwest Portland on Monday, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

Officers initially responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Portland's Forest Park neighborhood off Northwest Skyline Boulevard just before 11:30 a.m. As police were on their way, they learned from dispatch that two strangers had entered a man and a woman's home and demanded that they leave. The husband and the wife complied, PPB said, and officers found them locked outside of the house when they arrived.

PPB said the two suspects had access to weapons stored inside the house, so the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were called in to assist.

I interpret this potentially differently.

She may have just been simply communicating with the guy in a general manner, maybe with regard to her podcast and the killer interpreted it differently then probably started sending her bizarre, sexually explicit messages, and then, from the article:
When the woman became uncomfortable with the conversations, she filed a restraining order against him.

So, the guy probably fantasized over her watching her podcasts, and unable to control himself resorts to the 'If I can't have her nobody can' psychotic mindset and carries it out.
Imagine if she went to northwest dormitory to purchase a gun for protection a few days prior and was told by the weak and petty tyrant owners that she was delayed on her BGC and would have to wait indefinitely for OSP approval since the store is weak and doesn't want to be held liable.

Well, I guess she could have considerd other options but regardless if a person considers owning a firearm for self defense then they should already own one, having had some familiarity with it, training, range time etc.

Gun ownership should be out of interest, respect and understanding of guns, and not just as an impulsive, 'last ditch' idea for self defense due to a perceived, or potential threat.

Heck maybe she and her husband were anti gun and never considered owning any.

That's understandable as a theory, but from a practical standpoint, a lot of folks don't give personal security much thought until it becomes an issue. It's not reasonable to expect them to already own a gun at that point. It's also reasonable for them to deal with the situation as effectively as they can.
