A unanimous Supreme Court said on Monday that student athletes could receive education-related payments, in a case that could reshape college sports by allowing more money from a billion-dollar industry to go to the players.

This ruling will end many college sports and some colleges will cease all sports programs.

To avoid law suits over pay discrimination, most all women sports programs will shut down and a number of male programs will end.

Also, this ruling ends any restrictions on fans padding players pockets with money or gifts to play for a given university.

Another complex issue will be in recruiting high school athletes. Without team salary caps, it will be the wild west.

This ruling is a major game changer.

There goes the last bastion of sports for the sake of the game, no longer will we have sports for the pure enjoyment of the sport, it will all be about money, buying the best players from a limited pool of talent, and instead of supporting athletic programs on the basis of achievement, it's all about the big money! Sad sad sad!!!

As long as they don't start in on little league or Pop Warner, but even then, I have seen big bucks influencing the sports instead of supporting them!
