Suppressor vs. Silencer

I'm generally more interested in what you say than how you say it.
However, as long as we're listing euphemisms for the piece of equipment that reduces much of the noise a gun makes when it's happy.....
......There's the now increasingly popular, though very illegal DIY "solvent trap"
More than a few guys at the gun show here last weekend, were selling $20 thread
adaptersthat would allow oil filters to be used as just such a cleaning aid.


I prefer "suppressor" 'cuz that's all that it does, and
the term "silencer" sounds somewhat overstated and Hollywood-ish to me.

As far as the mag/clip conundrum goes...maybe it's like the old fingers or thumbs thing.
All thumbs(mags) are fingers(Clips)...but, not all fingers(clips) are thumbs(mags).

Yesterday I was at my LGS looking at buying a can for my 22.

I put in a clip, screwed on the can, and found I ain't got no usage of the sights no mo'.

I prefer to call them what they do, suppress noise. So suppressor.

I also call body armor a, bullet "resistant" vests.
