Just thought I'd ask for some insight on sticking a suppressor on a SA Victor 7.5" barrel AR pistol. The muzzle threads are under the forearm, as the forearm is longer than the barrel. With that, I presume the forearm will have to come off to put on any kind of muzzle device. I thought that most AR cans are for BBLs with at least 10" or longer. Thanks in advance.

Look at brands without minimum barrel length restrictions. Rugged and others.
Personally I will not own an AR whose forearm/hand guard protrudes in front of the muzzle.

No, just say no. You are going to risk or wear out whatever can you put that on, its still going to be loud AF, and abysmal terminal effects.

If you want to go that short, build a 9mm PCC, or better yet go with a 8" 300 blk.

Absolute shortest 5.56 worth having is 10.3" and you still need to use specialised ammo to get any sort of fragmentation/expansion at anything past spittinf distance.

The model of silencer was not mentioned; you might want to check the manual or contact the company to confirm said can is fine for a 7½" barrel. I've seen some only rated to [fill in the blank] length.

And, yah, it will likely be noisy, even suppressed.

I asked this question for my co worker who has the 7.5" AR pistol from SA. He wanted to suppress it. I told him he may want a 11.5" BBL or similar to have for suppression. I personally prefer the 11.5 barrels (such as my Geissele Super Duty AR pistol)for the reason(s) people have said here on this thread.

Slap your friend for me.

To answer your question:
- There are muzzle devices that are torqued down via the end of the muzzle device like the Q cherry bomb but that requires using a can compatible with the Plan B system or another similar can adapter (LOTS of options). This should allow for installation without removal of the handguard. The likely bigger issue is finding a can that will fit under the factory handguard.
- There are companies making suppressors without barrel length restrictions for 5.56 but make sure you pick one that has a good no fault warranty program and customer service if the gun will be shot a lot. You want to have confidence the manufacturer will still be in business and will re-core without hassle if you erode the baffle stack to the point of needing replacement.

I say go for it on suppressing. It will make the pistol much more pleasant to shoot for the shooter and everyone around the shooter. Will it be hearing safe NO but that isn't the point of suppressing a AR, especially a pistol.

Cans I would look at:
- Rex MG7 .224
- Rugged
- Dead Air Sandman series
- SilencerCo Saker
- Griffin Recce

He should get the can process started as it is likely going to take 6-months plus to receive it. If he decides to change barrel length or handguard in the interim, the new items if chosen correctly will still work just find with whatever suppressor he chooses.

I did this 7.5 thing a while back. It's really not recommended. Still loud, real gassy and .22 mag ballistics.

As to the 11.5 I totally agree.

As to why have threads under the handguard, it's for that classic MP5 SD look!

There are quite a few 556 and 30 cal cans on the market that have no barrel length restrictions.

Some might fit the ID of the handguard. Though most likely won't. You can swap handguards to something that allows the barrel threads to be exposed.

Personally, I'd leave the thing alone, it was designed with its compactness in mind and not it's suppression ability.

Diplomatic Security Services disagreed with your assessment and has issued them for 16+ years.

I admit that a 7.5" AR is limited in its uses but to completely write it off is foolish.

I'm planning to get a suppressor for my 8" 556 AR Pistol. Planning to get a QD style suppressor. That way its easy to make it short or quieter with a quick twist. It will also make it easy to swap between my rifles.

My 8" AR pistol is way fun. It's a side charger with a PSD (pistol storage device) and I only use 20 round metal magazines, strictly because they look more cool than 30 round polymer. And I say people who think 7"-8" barrel ARs are not good for SD/HD have never been shot with one while burglarizing a house. Do the research. It will work just fine. No, it's not as powerful as a longer barrel but it will still do the job.

I don't get why people hate on these. Just like many things in life, If it's not for you that's great, move on. Don't put down people who find use in it. It makes you look like an @$$.

Dead Air for me.
Dont hate me cuz I'm short.

I think a big part of the argument is wasted potential. Is it lethal at close range? Absolutely. But, if you ever needed to take longer shots you could find it a struggle. I'm in the camp of do whatever you want. I just personally found the 300bo subsonic in an AR pistol to be ideal for home defense. With a suppressor it is insanely quiet and definitely packs a punch. I do have a 556 pistol as well though

My main go to AR is 16". The 556 pistol is for spots where I can't fit a 16" AR but I have room for the 8" barrel since it's better than a 9mm. I've been thinking about going SBR but am not sure I want to be on that registry. I can say with 110% certainty that I will never need to take a shot more than 60' with my AR pistol, probably not more than 20'. If I'm taking shots down the block I would have time to grab my long gun, and that would be murder not HD, and I'm no murderer.
